Helsinki

This weekend was really, really busy. On Friday I had classes then »Panssarinyrkki were playing in Helsinki, so we had to haul ass there. In Helsinki I met up with Elena and Joel and we went for a drink and pizza before the gig. Then we arrived at the gig place. The hall where the bands were playing was packed.. with chairs and to top it off people were actually sitting in those chairs. I hope’d I’d got the wrong place. Anyhoo Panssarinyrkki played and everyone just sat there, some of them shocked, some of them amused and no doubt some of them wishing the sound system was better. Speaking of which, it was shite. The judges only feedback was that the singer had to pronunce his words better.. bullshit, it was their crappy sound system that mashed it. Even I know the words and I’m a foreigner. So Helsinki was a pretty tough gig but nevermind.. on Saturday they played in ARX-talo.
During Saturday I had work first, then Mikey came to pick me up at 5. The gig was what gigs should be. The crowd were into it and they had their own amp’s and pedals. The gig was a competition thing and they got through to the next round in Turku which is rather nifty, just hope it’s not when I’m in Scotland. After the gig we came back here to check on the puppy, surprisingly enough he’d behaved his damned self, not a thing was out of place so we tucked him in and left for the after party which involved quite a bit of cider and karaoke :S I’m suffering for it now though, I could have murdered the budgies for twittering and if I’d had my way the sun would have been nuked this morning but it was all worth it.
Oh yeah and there was a band playing in the competition that are in need of a bassist. I did consider it before but the mp3’s on their site were probably done on a cassette recorder and it was nothing compared to live. Dunno whether it’ll work out, the band’s comprised of 15 and 16 year olds and I’d feel like an old pedo but hey, it’s better than playing nothing and their music’s pretty good although they really need bass to give it a bit more depth. If only the chicks round here were more interested in playing music as opposed to trying to get a boyfriend that does.
