- A view of the admin back-end.
- Allows you to easily see and modify the information your authors have entered.
Description
This plugin allows blog admins to create a revenue sharing program utilising one of the many advertising programs out there i.e Yahoo, Google Adsense, Amazon, Allposters etc. It can also be used as a banner manager, author photo/website widgets.. actually it has about a zillion uses. Give it a try and lemme know if you use it for anything really groovy.
Admin has complete control over:
- The percentage of author adverts to admin adverts.
- The user level that an author has to be before they get to participate in the revenue sharing program
- Whether to randomise author ads on the front page of the blog.
- The page that authors see before entering their publisher id.
- Custom fields where you can collect additional information from your authors and display it.
- The positioning and content of ads.
- Up to three Author Advertising widgets.
- The information that authors enter.
Installation
- Dashboard > Plugins > Add New
- Search for the plugin, install and activate.
- Read the manual/promptly delete the manual ;)
- Modify the settings in Settings > Author Advertising Config
- You may have to modify your theme depending on which type of display you want. Full usage instructions are in the manual.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I want to use Adsense as my advertising program?
You modify the Author Page and let your users know that you’re using Adsense. You check one of the custom fields and give it the title of Adsense Slot ID or something similar. Then the author will put their publisher ID and slot ID information into their page. Remember to put your own defaults in the custom default slots so that your own ads show properly.
Can I use this for more than just advertising?
Yes you can put any HTML code into the boxes. PHP won’t work though. You could use this plugin to insert a widget that displays the author’s picture or some other author information. It’ll still rotate with your information unless you set your admin percentage to 0% then it’ll just be for authors. On the front page if you randomise ads then all of your author’s information/picture etc would be rotated.
Is this plugin compatible with WordPress 2.7?
Yep, seems to work like a charm.
Where can I get support?
If you’ve read the manual and still can’t figure out how to work the plugin then email:
or leave a message after the beep.

Will this work with WP Version 2.9.2?
Yep worked and worked.
Hi,
Thanks a lot for this great plugin, i found it the best, btw can i add extra field to the plugin ?
You used up both custom fields already? To add another field you’ll need to edit the plugin code.
Hey Harley Quine Support.
There seems to be a problem with your AdSense Revenue Sharing Plugin, and moderating author posts.
It seems that the only way to give Author’s access to AdSense Revenue Sharing under Dashboard, is by enabling them
to Publish posts, without further administrative review.
Let Me Explain Further:
SCENARIO 1
* If I want to moderate posts before they’re published by the authors, then
the authors DON’T have access to AdSense Revenue Sharing under Dashboard.
(The AdSense Revenue Sharing option disappears when I don’t allow authors to Publish Posts)
SCENARIO 2
* If I do allow authors to publish posts without review, then the authors
do have access to AdSense Revenue Sharing, but I’ll probably get a lot of spam too.
I want to Moderate Posts and run your plugin at the same time.
I have attached screen shots of the scenarios to further explain.
A lot of people are probably running into similar problems.
(I don’t know many admins that would allow random people to post to their site without moderation.)
If you could get back to me, and maybe help me out,
I would be happy to post a solution to the problem on Youtube, in a video, and link to your site.
Kind regards,
Taylor Thompson
Hiya, these things should all be worked out now by the new type of user permissions in the plugin. If not fire me off an email and i’ll be happy to help you find a solution. Thanks.
So far, this looks like I could potentially use this… is there a way to allow Author #1′s ads show up on Author #1′s posts, Author #2′s on his ads, etc? Right now, I’m c/p-ing the authors’ codes into the appropriate posts.
If this is doable, I have no problem throwing some bones your way.
Ermmm, that’s what the plugins main function is. There are a few different ways of displaying the ads, all of them documented in the Author Advertising Manual. Sounds like you just need to use the template code. Have a looky at that and see if that clears it up a bit more :)
Hello. I have a question. I have ad place 1 set up as Google Adsense, which seems to function properly. The only main issue I have is that it is pulling it into bad places on my home page (the homepage slider, above recent posts in sidebar, etc.).
I then have the second and third fields set up so that an author can include a link to site and a banner image URL, which I have published as a widget in the sidebar.
Is there a way to force the Adsense ads to NOT display at all on the homepage while allowing the widget to show on home (as well as the normal placement on post pages from authors’ posts) with the rotation option selected?
If not, is there a way to make it so that no ads show on the homepage at all?
Thank you! Besides that small issue related purely to my needs for my site, this is a wonderful plugin and a badly needed one. I’ve played with a couple others in the past, and they were awful. Kudos!
Looks like you could do with having a look at the different positioning options available as well here. The automatic placement doesn’t seem to be working too well for you so have a look at modifying your theme to do the things you’d like it to do. Thank you :)
Hi Harley,
Sent you an email, but I am following up in case it went to spam. I installed this plugin, and now my rss is showing an error page. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jubal
Hiya,
Emailed you yesterday witha solution, hah only about a month later :S
Hi there, I have the same problem with rss feeds. Feedburner stop working after I updated your plugin. When I try to edit my details in my feedburner account, I get this error:
The URL does not appear to reference a valid XML file. We encountered the following problem: Error on line 292: Element type “sc” must be followed by either attribute specifications, “>” or “/>”.
I tried deactivating all my plugin and I found that yours is the problem. Is there something I can do to fix this?
Thanks!
Take off automatic placement for ad place 1.
Hi Harley,
Great plugin, thanks! The manual states that it’s not recommended to use this plugin with adsense because the ‘new’ adsense code uses an ‘ad-slot ID’ which is connected only to a single user. So even if you switch publisher id, the ad-slot will remain the same. And that is against adsense TOS.
The ‘old’ adsense code however does not refer to an ad-slot and has all the styling in the unit it’s self. So you can switch publisher ID’s with this plugin without violation of adsense TOS! http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/AdSense/thread?tid=2e41ed8730a97600&hl=en This old legacy code is still supported by google (for how long? who knows…). Here’s 2 sites where you can generate the old viable adsense code: http://www.oldadsensecode.com and http://www.adsense-generator.com
I hope you’ll keep developing this plugin. Thanks again.
Thanks for the links and info!
Hi Harley,
I’ve been testing your plugin. Great work, I love it! In your manual you say you wouldn’t recommend using the plugin with adsense because of the slot ID.
You probably know this already but the old adsense code can still be used because it doesn’t have an ad slot ID. Google still supports the old code. There are some code generators on the web and stand-alone.
Awesome to know. Thank you :)
Harley,
Thank you for this plugin. I want to know if it is possible to rotate amazon text links (hyperlinks) embedded within the post? If so, how?
Thank you
Althaf
Am afraid this is beyond the scope of the plugin, you might have luck googling for a plugin that works specifically with Amazon. Thanks.
Great plugin…Problem though, WordPress 3 has just come out and the instructions to users…input link no longer shows up top of the dash…so users can’t enter their ad ids etc.
Hi there,
Did you go into your settings again and check all of the users you’d like to
be able to use the plugin? If you’ve upgraded this plugin at the same time
as your WordPress then there’s now new user permissions for who can
advertise. So far this is the only report of this problem but I’ll check it
out ASAP.
You’re right….it’s fine. I had upgraded both at the same time, and that users allowed setting had to be adjusted. Thanks very much for the reply.
Glad you got it fixed. Feel free to scream if there’s anything else I can do for you.
Would it be possible to include sharing ratio based on user groups? (is it possible, or is it a matter of being a pain in the butt to code?) Just curious, would be a great feature. Also, I see no other plugin of this variety that supports such a feature. I would be willing to make a donation for the functionality! =)
Hiya,
It’s be a bit of a pain in the butt to code but it’s something I’d like to put into the next release. I’ll stick it on my todo list for when I re-do the plugin. Thanks for your input :)
Hello, i have a question.
we are 2 admins and 9 authors.
how i must set the percentage value for equal share between us?
nice plugin!
Yep the percentage would be 100/11, bit difficult that one.. if you put your admin percentage to 9 then it’s pretty close to exactly equal share.
Hi Harley,
Thank you for this plugin that I’m using for one year !
I have one question : is there a way to allow HTML code on the textarea forms of “My advertising” Page ? Then, it could give possibility to authors to choose different campaigns taken from our advertising agency. In fact, all authors are now obliged to choose the same campaign…
Thanks !
Yep there’s only a max of two (three if you push it) currently.
Any chance the plugin will be compatible with 3.0 and working with the new Adsense code format?
Has been working fine with every WordPress version since 2.1 and it’s been working with the new Adsense code since it came out.. you just have to set it up differently. Instructions are in the manual.
Hi, One of further special function, can be an option that allows all Admin users, to share between their the admin percentage.
And next or another possible function can be the possibility to set an share percentage between admin and the editor that moderates/pubbly the posts!
Thanks ;)
great plugins…handy tool for admins…thanks
Hello Harley,
Thousand thanks for this plugin I’m using since 2 years now.
I want to know if there is a way to allow every author to put his own javascript ad, independently of the other authors (we are not using adsense).
I thought about allow javascript or HTML code into the “Your Advertising ID” form of the authors, but I don’t know how to make it. Can you help me please ?
Thanks a lot!
Allowing your users to insert code into the fields isn’t the safest of solutions. If you’ve got trustworthy authors though then I suppose it’d be alright. I’ll include an option it in the next update to allow it.

Hello,
Thank you very much for your plugin. It is great but I realised that it finally did not meet my needs. I did uninstall it but the ads still display on the homepage. Why?
Thank you
If you’ve disabled or deleted the plugin then the plugin isn’t showing those ads, it’s impossible unless you’ve found some weird WordPress bug. Check your templates and any other plugins you might have installed. If you still think it’s Author Advertising causing the problem them email me (support@harleyquine.com) with some details of your installation and I’ll have a look and see if I can figure it out.
great plugin, is there a way to integrate google analytics into it so users can track their own posts ?
Not at the moment there isn’t. I am planning an upgrade in the next month or so which will allow admins to use more that one advertising program so check it out when it updates :)
Hey Harley!
I like your plugin very much and now I plan to use it on a bbPress forum too. I want to put 2 adsense blocks at the end of a pageĀ and I would be interested how will the earnings of these be shared between the users? Will the last poster get his pub-id inserted into these blocks ? And if I would put them in the middle of the page how will the revenue be distributed in this case? Thanks in advance.
great plugin.why do not u submit to wordpress plugin directory.
Hiya, it is in the plugin directory here :)
hey,is there a way to thank u for this great plugin?:)
Course there is :) Donations through Paypal to harley@harleyquine.com are much appreciated ;D
Thank you for the plugin. Is there a code I can add to specific pages where I DON’T want the adsense ads to automatically appear (such as on the Contact Us’ or ‘About’ pages) ?
Currently nope, at least not through automatic placement. If you modify your theme to show the ads then it’s as simple as leaving the code out of the About template page. Check out the Author Advertising Manual for more instructions and have a look at the WordPress Codex for more info on the theme structure in general. I do hired work at the reasonable rate of 10 euro per hour, so that’s always an option if you’ve got a bit of spare cash. A job like this wouldn’t take more than an hour. Thanks.
