Author Advertising MU Plugin

Included is a widgets script that will allow admin/authors to put up to three widgets on their blog. Admin has control over what these widgets will look like, author can specify where the widgets go.
MU admin may prefer to disable auto-positioning of ads and instead modify the themes. The default home.php shows the ads in the loop so you’ll probably want to modify that too. Instructions for all of these things are in the Site Admin page and if you have any trouble or questions don’t hesitate to ask, contact.
This script is available for the extremely reasonable price of 10 euro. I’m selling it rather than giving it away because Wordpress MU will mainly be used by business and since they’ll be making profit from their authors using this script why should I be poor? ;P This price also includes future updates / bug squashes etc. Future updates are emailed directly to the people who have purchased this script. The zip file will be sent to the email address used in Paypal (hopefully preventing people using stolen accounts).
Installation
Upload author-advertising-mu-plugin.php and (if you want to use the widgets) author-advertising-widgets.php into your wp-content/mu-plugins folder. That’s it :) Options can be found at.. Site Admin > Author Adsense Config and blog owners can set their publisher ID in Options > My Advertising.

Hello,
your plugin really looks awesome, but I have a question:
do you just rotate the ads with my Adsense-Code and those of my authors or how do you manage the sharing of the revenue?
The problem is, that if its just a rotating ad I could get accused of click-fraud, if one of my authors would klick on the ads in his article… which is too risky for me.
How does this plugin consider this and prevent me from beeing kicked out of Adsense?

The sharing of the ads is managed by a percentage. So you set the percentage yourself and on a post or single page, your publisher ID and the post authors publisher ID are rotated according to the percentage you’ve set. The money generated from Adsense is generated in the same way that publishers normally use adsense, it’s not a case of ‘you’ll get this percentage of what I make, and I’ll get this’ it’s only to do with the displaying of the ads. If an author clicks on his own ads then he faces being banned from Adsense, not you because they can tell he’s clicking on his own ads. I’ve been through Google TOS with a fine comb and even emailed their support asking about the legality of my plugins and they have no problem with it, I have also not found anything in this plugin that doesn’t comply with their TOS. Forgot to add that at the moment you have to use the old style of Google’s ads i.e without the slot_id otherwise publishers can change colours and sizes of the ads. I plan to implement a custom field for admins in the future so they can run the slot_id if they choose to but I wouldn’t, because it’s too risky. Also you can easily try out this script on a single WP installation free, my Author Advertising Plugin does what this one does only in a single installation environment.

Harley, I’m on MU and considering the purchase.
I just finished reading this post and the one about the Author Advertising plugin and I have a few questions.
Just to be ultra-clear: say I’m using MU but only have one blog running off it for now. Does the MU version of the plugin allow me to share revenue with:
a) multiple authors of that one blog
b) authors of separate blogs hosted by the install
c) both a) and b)
Another thing. I’m already using OIO Publisher and Openx. Is the MU plugin compatible with them?

Hiya Jacob,
The plugin allows you to share revenue on hosted blogs between you and the multiple/single author(s) of the blog. I haven’t heard of any conflict with those other plugins but that’s not to say that there isn’t any. Why not try my regular author advertising plugin and if that works, then the MU will work :)

Will this allow me to pay contributors all revenues for their content, such that for any submissions they make, it will place their ads on the page? Does it support unlimited users?

You can’t I’m afraid. Wordpress and Wordpress MU is updating at a faster rate than I can keep up with updating. Also the new method of updating plugins built into wordpress is confusing the hell out of me.. subversion repository blah blah. So.. it could be a while, sorry about that.
